The Kenya Biorefinery facility will produce ~40 million liters of biodiesel and other coproducts and byproducts from sunflower oil, palm oil/palm stearin, dedicated energy crops, such as Camelina, Moringa, or other food processing/agricultural waste streams.
Kenya's strong commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development provides a conducive environment for the growth of the biodiesel industry. Increased biodiesel production in Kenya has the potential to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, create employment opportunities, and contribute to rural development. With the right policies, infrastructure, and investments, biodiesel production can play a significant role in Kenya's energy transition and contribute to a more sustainable future.
The Kenya Biorefinery manufacturing facility is being sited centrally in the Busia region, with access to our planned agricultural production at Trans Nzoia to the North, Uganda to the West, and Homa Bay to the South.
The Kenya biorefinery project focuses on cultivating rapid-growing seed oil crops on marginal lands, aiming to strengthen the economy while also providing a sustainable fuel source. Kenya was chosen as the ideal location for cultivating these crops due to its favorable climate conditions and abundance of arable land. In collaboration with governmental agencies and independent contractors, Avalon will collaborate to establish biorefineries and farms for the production of essential raw materials. The Project is also designed to ensure a balance between food and energy security and focuses on green economic development by integrating agriculture and clean energy manufacturing. Once fully implemented, it will provide a stable agricultural market for plant-based oils and much-needed energy commodities.
